Pick-up from Fes and drive to the imperial city of Meknes, then visit the Roman ruins of Volubilis. Continue through Ifrane and the cedar forests of Azrou to Midelt for dinner and overnight.
Drive through the Ziz Valley palm groves to Merzouga. In the late afternoon ride camels into the Erg Chebbi dunes at sunset, enjoy a Berber dinner and music around the fire, and overnight in a desert camp.
A full day exploring the Erg Chebbi area: sunrise over the dunes, nomad families, Khamlia Gnawa music village and oases. Second night in a desert hotel or camp.
